0:00all right so much happened over the 0:01weekend let me see if I can get through 0:03it first you may not notice this but 0:06mistol has launched again now mistro was 0:09out with models earlier they were a 0:11French AI model maker they are back with 0:13a consumer app and it is blazing fast 0:15like I played with it it's free to play 0:17with you don't even need an account the 0:19thing is like I blank fast apparently it 0:22runs on Swiss silicon they're building 0:24some sort of French Data Center to House 0:25it they're clearly trying to make the 0:28case that European model makers are not 0:30done so we will see uh when I played 0:32with it it felt to me like about a four 0:34class model GPT 40 0:37um and it it felt really fast it's the 0:40fastest model I've played with so if 0:42you're looking for blazing speed 0:45trimestral next uh chat GPT became the 0:48sixth most visited website in the world 0:50and that's before their Super Bowl ad uh 0:53and if you wonder you know how much of 0:55the internet's traffic is number six 0:56worth and previously I'd heard they were 0:58at number eight how much is number six 1:00worth it's 2.3% 2.3% of the internet's 1:03traffic for number six well what's 1:06number one oh it's google.com uh 1:1029.2% or so uh so more the the reward 1:13for being number one is more than 10 1:15times number six that's how big a deal 1:18it 1:19is and uh as Sam put it himself in a 1:23little tweet we have a long way to go to 1:25rund down Google so you know he's coming 1:27for 1:28Google this brings me to the Super Bowl 1:30ad that Chad GPT ran there were a number 1:32of other AI ads Gemini I thought 1:35speaking of Google did a great job 1:38explaining how AI can actually help 1:41they've had I guess a year or so to 1:42think about it and I thought the ads 1:44that they showed actually showed people 1:48using AI in ways that made sense so that 1:51was helpful um but Chad GPT did not they 1:56actually made and I can't believe they 1:58did this they it was a branding play I 2:00suspected it would be a branding play 2:03but they made the symbol of waiting on 2:07their app the center of their brand 2:09which I thought was a very curious 2:10choice for an ad to the general public 2:13like you know how Chad GPT does the 2:15little three dots and dances like that 2:17was the heart of the Ed it was a DOT 2:19that kind of exploded into patterns and 2:21visuals and became a sailing ship and 2:24then a rocket and then Chad GPT um and 2:27this was on the same weekend that mistol 2:29dropped and incredibly fast model with 2:31no 2:32waiting and I I'm not a Brandon guy 2:36maybe they're right maybe that maybe it 2:37was the right call because everyone 2:38knows the dots maybe the dot will stick 2:41around because it's the same dot for 2:43voice mode right I'm not 2:45sure but it felt like an odd choice to 2:48me especially not to you Sora like there 2:51was no Sora at all involved in any of 2:55that next uh a little bit of trivia or 2:58maybe you didn't know this Google used 3:00to own ai.com uh but deep seek 3:03definitely now owns it it redirects to 3:06deep 3:07seek.com so either Google's playing 3:09games or deep seek owns ai.com which I 3:13think is 3:15interesting finally uh Sam spent the 3:17Super Bowl or the morning of the Super 3:19Bowl writing a blog post with what I 3:22would describe as sam's three laws of 3:24artificial intelligence not to be 3:26confused with Asim Mo's Three Laws not 3:29to be confused with Moore's Law 3:30governing compute uh Sam's laws are 3:33about 3:34intelligence and Sam first talks about 3:37the cost of intelligence he says the 3:39cost of a given level of artificial 3:41intelligence declines roughly 10x every 3:44year this is in line with observed 3:46values it's part of why it's not that 3:48surprising that deep seek claimed a 3:50relatively affordable training cost even 3:52though that was not fully 3:54loaded but what that means if you think 3:57about it if it goes down 10x every 12 3:59months in 3 years it's a thousand times 4:03less than what it was originally like it 4:06just goes to zero so 4:08fast well you 4:10wonder is there 4:13value and Sam's Third Law not the second 4:16suggest there Sam basically says there's 4:19super 4:21exponential uh value in 4:25intelligence and he just sort of asserts 4:28that I think think right now everyone 4:30who's putting money on the table would 4:31agree with 4:33him but that value statement is why he 4:38can afford to spend so much and why he 4:40believes staying only a few months ahead 4:42of folks like deep seek is enough and 4:45that brings me to the second law so we 4:48did the first law which is declining 4:50cost we did the third law which is wow 4:52this is really valuable and then we did 4:54the Second Law Second Law 4:57is the essentially says that 5:00intelligence is the log of resources 5:03invested and so as as just to like make 5:06the logarithmic relationship very blunt 5:09if you put 10x the resources in you get 5:112x the 5:13intelligence and this this is why Jensen 5:16hang sleeps well at night uh you you 5:18have to invest an immense amount more in 5:21chips and data centers and training and 5:23inference and order to get more 5:25intelligence out you just do and Sam 5:28says that's something that holds true 5:29across a wide range of scales I I have 5:32observed so far that that is true and 5:34I'm sure he's right about it um and if 5:38that's true it means that they are going 5:40to keep investing enormous amounts in 5:43scaling up 5:44intelligence so there you go those are 5:46Sam's 3 laws uh that's what happened 5:50over the weekend so much happened mistol 5:52is back uh if you were an Eagles fan you 5:55had a great weekend and you're probably 5:57not watching this at all uh either way 5:59way I hope you have a great week cheers
